Driven Motives

This dysfunctional business is as dodgy as they come. Massive warning, do not use. Owner is rude, aggressive and obnoxious. I dropped car off for quote on fixing oil leak. David quotes to repair a whole lot of other stuff, quoted over $6k to repair a car worth only $6k. We declined and he went ballistic, charged for providing his exorbitant quote (no charge was discussed or agreed prior to issuing quote) and then actually refused to do the work we wanted done. David then vindictively advised his intention to charge storage of $30 a day, knowing that we were away for 7 weeks on holidays. None of these charges were discussed or agreed to when the car was dropped in. He said unless we paid his invoice, he would hold our car (against our wishes) and if not collected by 5pm the next day, he would charge $30 a day for nearly 4 weeks that he was planning to close for Christmas. None of this is legal or fair. He had no legal right to hold our car because he never entered a contract with us. We paid his fabricated extortionately overpriced invoice he made up for doing zero repair work, in order to get our car back, we were polite to him and we then received an abusive message: “this does not mesh with simplistic ignorant bean counters such as your self. Good day.” And this: “It appears you continue not understand. From 5pm the workshop and yard will be closed and storage will accrue untill January 15th at $30 per day”. The biggest concern was a comment he put in the fabricated invoice that explains this man’s character: “Please continue to be frustrated as you have shown minimal respect to my communications”. We never actually expressed frustration to him. If you want to be ripped off and abused by your mechanic, use David at Driven Motives (should be Hidden Motives) and take on his anger management issues, or save the hassle and use someone honest and decent. Since having our terrible experience with this business, every person I have spoken to says massive warning do not use him, he’s rude, aggressive and dishonest. I would give negative stars for this business if it was possible
